Earlier this month, Tumblr announced that it was cracking down on all “adult” imagery in the name of fighting sex trafficking and child porn, which includes the extremely derided “female-presenting nipples.” While I support website that fight such efforts, it comes at the expense of creators like myself who happen to photograph artistic depictions of the human body from time to time for money, and most importantly, the models and others sex workers who make a living. The human body should not be criminalized or denigrated for the sake of general morality.
Yet, here we are.
It’s not just Tumblr giving in and cracking down. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media sites are waging fear-mongering attacks against the nipple by deleting images and allowing other, more violent and racist depictions, to fester on the bowels of the Internet. While I am fortunate to have a lot of followers on my social media sites (you can get me to 3k on Instagram right now), creators cannot live on social media alone. I certainly cannot share these photos above and below on social media whatsoever without getting dunked on by Instagram or Facebook because nipples.
Heavily relying on social media that seems to curry favors to corporations and alt-right racists over small creators is not a business plan that I want to adhere to any longer. I am asking for your help.
From January, I will be posting most of my content on Patreon. What you’ve seen on my Instagram and Facebook doesn’t scratch the surface. For as low as $10-15 a month, you can see full sets of my work the way I intended it. If it’s too much, you can see previews or behind the scenes stuff for a donation of $3 a month. As this is Patreon, I will be gifting my fans rewards depending on the money they donate.
If Patreon isn’t your thing, I will also be selling my sets individually. Email me or DM me on social media for details.
Don’t worry, I will still be posting on Facebook and Instagram (especially portfolio stuff for future clients), but your donations will be helpful for a person whose only full-time job is this (but not much money).
Thank you to all who’s supported my work and I will not fail you.
